Ó' Catháin Iasc Teo continues with expansion program

Ó' Catháin Iasc Teo has completed its expansion program for 2002. At a cost of €1.5 million this expansion program included grading facilities with a capacity to grade

  • 30 tons of Mackerel per hour

  • 20 tons of Herring per hour

  • 10 tons of Sprat per hour

A new freezing facility, which enables us to freeze our products in cartons on trolleys and increases our capacity by 24 tons per day.

Ó' Catháin Iasc Teo continues with expansion program

A new computerised bagging line, which allows us to bag our fresh and frozen products in weights from 500 grams to 2 kilos.

This computerised bagging line comes complete with bar-coding facilities with production and sell by-dates, and a fully automatic sealing system. 

Also included are new gutting facilities with capacity of 150 fish per minute.

The new facility also includes increased chill room capacity for fresh product. A holding room for frozen products and a dried good store.

Ó' Catháin Iasc Teo is dedicated to providing the highest quality produce; with this in mind we are already planning for future expansion. 

Future expansion of Ó' Catháin Iasc Teo will include the purchase of a new fishing vessel to replace the Drakkar II.

The construction of a new holding room for frozen product (3000 tons capacity). The expansion of the canning plant in Germany.

It is envisaged that this expansion program will materialise in 2003-2004.
